Geographical Description:
The map depicts the southeastern United States, from north Florida up to Virginia. As the title states, the map shows the landing locations of three 16th century French expeditions to Florida: Ribault (1562), Laudonier (1564), and Gourgues (1567).
Cartobibliographic notes:
This copy is the second state of the map, printed in 1677, as indicated by Du Val's name being hyphenated as Du-Val. The sailing ship also does not appear in the first state, which was printed in 1665. Du Val's name is sometimes spelled Duval in other sources.
