Notable locations on the map include: Mcphie Park, former school at sterling ave. (this was the second school on the island and located at 175 Sterling St. and it was open from 1938-1948), Commodore Hotel (built 1938 at 5100 Estero Blvd.), Pelican Hotel, Estero Island Inn. In 1950 Estero Blvd. was paved the whole length from the north point to the south at Big Carlos Pass on Fort Myers Beach. Subdivisions include: Beach Estates, 1925 Crescent Beach, 1921 Crescent Park Addition, 1921 Crescent park, 1921 Estero Park, 1949 Flamingo Park, 1953 Gulf Heights, 1925 Gulf Island Manor, 1941 Gulf-Bay-View, 1941 Gulf View Plaza, 1925 Hercules Park, 1924 Holiday Heights, 1952 Holiday Shores, 1951 Hyde Park, 1925 Laguna Shores Unit No. 1, May 1951 Miramar, 1925 Sandpiper Village Unit No. 1, 1952 Sandpiper Village Unit No. 2, 1952 Venetian Gardens, 1925 W.W. Watsons Subdivisions, 1925 Map was dated using the Flamingo Park, January 1953 which does appear and Laguna Shores Unit No. 2, August 1953 which does not appear. The handdrawn subdivision which includes Donora Blvd., Madison Ct., Washington Ct., and Jefferson Ct would later become Shell Mound Park which was officially plattted in 1958. To the right of Holiday Shores in "Lot 2" is what would become Bayland Heights, 1958 To the right of Holiday Shores in "Govt Lot 1" is what would become Glenview, 1956 To the right of Albatross Street in "67A" is what seems to be Fairview Isles, 1958 The road at the end of Laguna Shores on the far right of the map is current day Tarpon Rd and to the right of that is what would become Laguna Shores No. 2, 1953. Govt. Lot 1 to the left of the shell mound Blvd. area is Matanzas Pass Perserve and Zimmer's Addition to Shell Mound Park, 1959 Location of the Mound House is shown with a faint drive type of line directly above Jefferson St. In 1953 William and Florence Long bought the property and bulldozed the shell mounds to develop the Shell Mound Park subdivision.
